The Office of Mental Health (OMH) plays a dual role in the provision of mental health services for New York State. OMH is both a provider of services and an oversight agency for not-for-profit, and a handful of for-profit, mental health programs.
Central Office is responsible for:
- providing leadership for the State's the mental health system.
- setting the State's mental health policy.
- monitoring and oversight of mental health services and programs operated by local governments and nonprofit agencies of New York.
There are approximately 1000 Central Office employees between the main office, the field offices, the Cook Chill Production Center, the Print Shop, and the Revitalization program.
