Fire Safety Training

The Office of Mental Health in conjunction with The Office for People with Developmental Disabilities and the NYS Office of Fire Prevention and Control developed this training program to be used by our agencies operating supervised community residence programs.  However, the training materials could be useful to all staff providing a variety of residential services.

TRAINING COMPONENTS

• Fire safety videos
  These training videos cover four specific safety topics.
• Fire safety booklets
  These booklets are a supplement to the training videos.

TRAINING POSTERS

• Fire Can Kill, So Know the Drill
  Remind staff to conduct fire drills that use various escape routes.
• The Best Time to Fight a Fire is Before it Starts
  Ensure staff remain diligent about maintaining a safe environment.
