Suicide is everybody's business, but suicide prevention is by no means one size fits all. OMH recognizes suicide as a statewide public health problem with regional variations. New York State varies both geographically and demographically within each of its five regions and across its 62 counties. Five regional field offices continue to support suicide prevention efforts on a local level, collaborating with coalitions to support diverse issues and needs. From the North Country, to the Southern Tier, to New York City, no one is immune to the risk or possibility of suicide, or the impact of a loss, and the New York State Office of Mental Health Suicide Prevention Initiative is dedicated to addressing and supporting regional initiatives statewide.
