Bureau of Cultural Competence LISTSERV® Page

The Cultural Competence LISTSERV® list was established to provide the New York State (NYS) Human Service and Behavioral Health community the vehicle to network, build and strengthen culturally competent services.  We would like to encourage folks to use this forum to gather information from others about their successes and lessons learned serving the diverse populations of NYS.

In our travels throughout NYS we have encountered several champions who have taken on the cause of eliminating disparities by addressing barriers that keep individuals from receiving meaningful access to services.  These champions have innovative approaches that meet people where they are to engage, empower and walk with them down the road to recovery.

We would also like to use this forum to promote events, conferences, and activities across New York State for cultural competence and healthcare disparities.

Here are a few housekeeping rules for posting on our LISTSERV® list:

  1. New subscribers to our LISTSERV® list should give us a brief introduction of themselves so other participants know who they are speaking with.
  2. Please submit event information in a timely manner to allow folks enough time to participate.
  3. Our LISTSERV® list is for informational purposes through a governmental agency and cannot be utilized to support for–profit activities.
  4. We reserve the right not to post anything that has the appearance of being unethical or discriminatory.

We are excited about this joint venture to improve our behavioral health system across New York State.
