The NYS Office of Mental Health. (OMH), supports the development of Peer operated programs. Peer operated programs offer a unique means of supporting individuals in recovery because they are run by people with lived experience of mental health issues. These programs differ from traditional clinical programs in that they focus on a shared personal experience paradigm approach. In order to assist peer-operated programs in developing an infrastructure on a cooperative basis, OMH is providing funding for the support of an Independent Practice Association among the peer-operated programs. This will allow for the development of a cost-efficient infrastructure to operate in a managed Medicaid environment and the ability to handle shared risk contracts under value-based payment models.
