Direct care staff at the Office of Mental Health (OMH) are part of a treatment team. They support hope and recovery for adults with serious mental illness and children and adolescents with serious emotional disturbances. The job title for this position is Mental Health Therapy Aide.

OMH is currently recruiting for direct care staff at locations throughout the state.


About the Job

Mental Health Therapy Aides assist patients working toward recovery. You may work in a hospital, clinic, or a group residential setting:

  • Supporting patient health and safety
  • Accompanying patients to treatment, social and recreational activities
  • Teaching patients daily life skills like cooking, grooming or doing laundry
  • Writing notes describing patient activities and their progress toward recovery goals
