Located in the foothills of the Adirondacks, Utica provides easy access to the Adirondack Park and its four season activities. It is 90 miles West of Albany and 50 miles East of Syracuse.

Old Main Building

Utica is the site of the first New York State psychiatric hospital opening in 1843. The original historic structure still stands. The City offers a variety of educational and recreational opportunities. It is the home of: Utica College of Syracuse University, SUNY Utica/Rome, Mohawk Valley Community College, Munson-Williams Proctor Museum and School of Art, The Stanley Performing Arts Center, Boilermaker Roadrace (largest 15K race in the United States), Utica Blue Sox Baseball Team, Mohawk Valley Prowlers Hockey Team, Long Distance Runners Hall of Fame.

Utica is in close proximity to: Herkimer County Community College, Hamilton College, Colgate University, Syracuse University, SUNY Upstate Medical University, Baseball Hall of Fame (Cooperstown), Boxing Hall of Fame (Canastota). MVPC has ample free parking.
