Fire Safety Training
The Office of Mental Health in conjunction with The Office for People with Developmental Disabilities and the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control developed this training program to be used by our agencies operating supervised community residence programs. However, with some minor adjustments this training packet would be useful to all staff providing a variety of residential services.
Training components:
- Fire safety videos
- Fire safety booklets
The videos and booklets can be downloaded from this site. Booklets can be ordered through Utica Press.
Training posters:
- Fire Can Kill, So Know the Drill
Remind staff to conduct fire drills that use various escape routes. - The Best Time to Fight a Fire is Before it Starts
Ensure staff remain diligent about maintaining a safe environment.
Posters can also be ordered from Utica Press.
We encourage you to use this material as a core for training staff. The use of this material is not mandatory and can be modified as needed.
