Co-occurring Disorders Train-the-Trainer
Training For Upstate New York

Dear Colleague:

We are writing to inform you of an exciting Train-the-Trainer opportunity that is being offered to New York State by the Co-occurring Center for Excellence and the Northeast Addiction Technology Transfer Center based on the Treatment Improvement Protocol #42 on Co-occurring Disorders Treatment. The training is being co-sponsored by the New York State Office of Mental Health and the Office for Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services. This is the second of two trainings to be held in New York State and is for individuals who live and/or work in upstate New York. A training was held in June 2008 for individuals who live and/or work in New York City or Long Island.

We are interested in identifying candidates for this training who are well-versed in the content of TIP#42 and have significant training and treatment experience in the areas of addiction and mental health. The 25 selected candidates must commit to sponsoring two free trainings over the next year and participate in a learning collaborative following completion of the training. We have included an application and agreement that must be signed by the applicant and agency sponsors.

This training is scheduled for September 10-12, 2008 at the Addiction Care Center of Albany, 90 McCarty Avenue, Albany, NY 12202. This is the second of several training opportunities that will support the work of the Co-occurring Disorders Task Force. The Task Force met over the summer of 2007 and made specific recommendations for improving the way patients access mental health and substance abuse services in each setting. Please feel free to make additional copies of this application and pass it along to others who you believe will be interested. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Patricia Lincourt at (518) 402-2844 or Suzanne Gurran at (518) 402-4399.

Please send completed applications and signed agreements, postmarked on or before August 8, 2008 to:
