ABOUT US
Kirby is a maximum security forensic psychiatric center located in New York City. Most patients come to Kirby through the courts under Criminal Procedure Law. Some come as a result of the New York State Code of Rules and Regulations regarding the hospitalization of the mentally ill.

Kirby is located on Wards Islands in Manhattan. It is accessible by the M35 Bus. It is also accessible by car or a footbridge on the south end of the island.

We partner with patient’s families and the community to offer evidence-based practices in a therapeutic setting. Our goal is to deliver quality treatment– maintaining consistency in our care. Kirby follows the current standards of care outlined by The Joint Commission.

TRAINING
Kirby Forensic provides consultation and training at less secure mental health sites. In affiliation with several universities in New York City, we offer training to:
