We are the only statewide Correctional/Mental Health system in the United States to be fully accredited by the Joint Commission.

SERVICES

Inpatient Treatment
Central New York PC operates a secure inpatient facility located in Marcy, NY. We are only state facility where patients may be involuntarily hospitalized pursuant to Section 402 of the NYS Corrections Law.

Our inpatient facility includes the Northeast Central Regional Forensic Unit which provides inpatient services for pre-trial detainees from 25 upstate county jails under Section 508 of the NYS Corrections Law. We also offer restoration services for individuals committed under CPL 730.

Correction-Based Operations
We manage a statewide network of mental health units for inmate-patients in the custody of the NYS Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS). These units operate in DOCCS facilities. The network includes:

  • 28 outpatient clinics
  • 15 full Satellite Units providing a total of 205 crisis beds
  • 781 Intermediate Care Program beds
  • clinic services to approximately 8,500 inmate/patients of the DOCCS 57,000 inmate population

Populations Served

  • Statewide NYS Department of Corrections and Community Supervision population
  • all convicted sentence-serving county jail inmates requiring psychiatric hospitalization
  • 25 designated counties for pre-trial detainees requiring inpatient hospitalization

EDUCATION & TRAINING

Our Doctoral Internship in Health Service Psychology offers two full-time, paid positions. The internship runs from September 1 to August 31.

  • Interns work with individuals in forensic inpatient, correctional, and civil-confinement settings.
  • Primary training takes place at the inpatient hospital.
  • Supplemental rotations take place at Mid-State Correctional Facility and Marcy Correctional Facility Regional Mental Health Unit.
  • Intensive supervision and weekly didactics complement the interns’ experiences.
