Behavioral Health High Risk Quality Collaborative (HRQC) for Emergency Departments
AIMS:
Ensure that emergency departments identify, assess and provide best practice interventions for high behavioral health risk patients in Medical Emergency Department (ED) and Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Programs (CPEP) by:
- Providing PSYCKES access to support clinical decision making in Medical EDs and CPEPs.
- Implementing best practice protocols for identifying, assessing and managing patients at risk for suicide, violence, opioid overdose and high utilization of acute services in Medical EDs and CPEPs.

PARTICIPANTS:
95 EDs & CPEPs across New York State are participating
PROJECT ACTIVITIES:
- Phase 1 (2019-2021*): Hospitals implement the use of PSYCKES to identify patients at high behavioral health risk; EDs and clinical experts work together to define best practices.
- Phase 2 (2021-2022*): Hospitals implement best practice workflows for managing patients at high behavioral health risk.
